PTC 2231 is a cross-reference part that replaces OEM part: Komatsu 56B-20-14900, which fits between the hitch coupling and the mid axle in the articulated dump trucks that operate on mining and quarry haul roads. This part of the driveline connects the swivelling front frame section with the non-swivelling rear frame section, so the tube is manufactured of high-tensile alloy steel sized to meet OEM requirements while being able to withstand the angular movement created in the process of steering. Forged yoke ends are machined to fit the splines correctly, maintaining the same level of torque transfer between the hitch and the mid-axle input.
Each unit will be subjected to factory dynamic balancing to regulate vibration using this mid-length section of the driveline to prevent premature stress on the bearer housing of the mid axle and the seals that will be attached to it. This, with sealed, self-lubricated spider joints on either end, PTC 2231 will allow increased intervals between manual greasing during normal service. This driveshaft is manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 quality systems and dimensionally checked in Komatsu HM400-2R to fit in ready-made hitch-to-mid-axle driveshafts.
