PTC 1038 is created as a substitute OEM for Komatsu 569-20-62100 that is located on the rear end of the propeller shaft on huge wheel loaders and hauling machines operating in mining and quarry applications. Its trunnion body is made of alloy steel, carburised, to develop surface hardness, yet retains a strong shock-absorbing and tough interior, which is suited to the flexing and torque reversal of rear-mounted spiders during load cycles. Needle bearings are aligned to small radial tolerances that ensure that rotational play is insignificant even after long working hours.
Grease is enclosed in the assembly with a self-locked bearing cup and multi-stage barrier; thus, lubrication remains in place without the need to attend to it on a regular basis. The aim of this construction is to minimise the frequency of scheduled service interruptions on the operating calendar of a machine. Each batch is manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 and tested to OEM dimensions and packed prior to delivery to maintenance planners, providing them with a rear spider assembly that fits into existing Komatsu HD 325-6 / 7R without further machining.
