PTC 1037 is produced as a functional equivalent of Komatsu 569-20-61100 / 569-20-61109 as the front spider assembly of large wheel loaders and articulated haul equipment propeller shaft systems. This component is manufactured using forged alloy steel and is refined using a controlled carburising process to be able to withstand the high level of torque transfer and constant flexing which takes place at the front joint position during load-and-carry operations. Its cross trunnions are turned down to minute tolerances to enable the bearings of the needles to seat level in position, minimising the areas of localised stress which usually cause the death of spider life.
The sealed, self-locking bearing cup design holds factory-filled grease in position through long duty cycles, reducing unexpected service interruptions to relubricate. The three-step sealing barrier is against ingress of dust and moisture that is prevalent on the quarry and construction sites.
