A worn Spider Bearing is one of the most frequent causes of play, noise and unevenly distributed torque at the Komatsu D355A driveline joint. The spider (cross) is also the load-bearing part of the universal joint, and any wear in this area contributes to the deterioration of the universal joint's yoke and bearing cups. PTC 1017 is identical in cross dimensions, trunnion diameter and bearing cup fitment to Komatsu 195-20-11100 and can be installed into the original joint housing without remachining. The cross is made of alloy steel and case hardened for wear resistance at the points of bearing contact (where friction and load are greatest). The trunnion tolerance is matched with needle bearings to eliminate backlash and ensure smooth rotation under heavy torque. Sealed cap design prevents grease from coming out and dirt from getting in – important in severe dust and dirt environments on job sites.
